Sharing advice, skills, and information on NRM with landholders, irrigators, local government, industry and community groups, schools, and the entire Lachlan community is at the heart of our work. Our personal, client focused approach is essential to the way projects are initiated and maintained. We undertake on-farm inspections, design and plan farm scale projects, and coordinate field days, farm walks, seminars and forums.
We initiate, promote, and coordinate public forums and field days across the catchment that focus on improving our stakeholders’ ability to adapt to and manage their business in a changing environment. Forums and field days are primarily about knowledge sharing. They originate from, and are organised around, the expressed needs and wishes of the community. We begin to tailor events as needs are identified to our staff through general enquiries and via our many other points of contact with landowners and the community.
Public forums create opportunities to exchange ideas and information and may include guest speakers and high profile speakers; case studies in action with real, on-ground examples; dialogues with relevant government representatives such as Ministers and Local Members; interactive workshop sessions allowing for participation; and poster presentations.
Field days offer a variety of new knowledge and skill prospects like hands-on demonstrations; opportunities to view project results on site; theory backed up by practical examples; a chance to learn in the paddock; and entire days dedicated to topics such as conservation farming, soil health and grazing management.
