Professional Development
It is necessary in any profession to continually upgrade the skills and knowledge base to keep abreast of emerging technology, knowledge and information - and the NRM profession is no different.
Lachlan CMA provides professional development on two levels: firstly on the level of the individual landholder, and secondly on the organisation and industry level.
On the landholder level, professional development is available in the key areas of Farm Planning, Grazing Management, Water Use Efficiency, Conservation Farming, Native Vegetation Management, and Cultural Heritage. Lachlan CMA is happy to consider other training exercises as identified by our community or clients. We always have our ear to the ground for opportunities to tailor training to the relevant needs of our community and its changing environment. Providers of this training are accredited and have significant adult education and NRM expertise. Courses are practical, flexible and group based. Advanced courses in Management and Community Leadership are also facilitated for our clients, and in some cases scholarships are available.
On the organisation and industry level our role is the provision and coordination of relevant educational material, and organising the delivery of this material through suitable accredited industry providers. Our clients are management and operational staff in local government, and other organisations and industries. We identify and develop training packages to suit the core business of individual clients.
Community Leadership Training and Scholarships
Lachlan CMA creates opportunities in NRM and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Scholarships, and supports community participation and attendance at NRM conferences. Targeted skill development in leadership is available to selected individuals from the community interested in high-end management and leadership training. We seek out partnerships with sponsors to maintain scholarship funds, and we coordinate the delivery of the funds to these NRM related disciplines. We also support successful students with practical workplace experience. The scholarships program aims to encourage more young people to be trained in NRM and to attract youth from different backgrounds such as the indigenous community.
As with any profession or business, many of our clients look for the opportunity to take their management ability to the next level and achieve a competitive advantage. Our professional development service is all about providing this opportunity.
