Lachlan Riverine Working Group

The Lachlan CMA coordinates the Lachlan Riverine Working Group (LRWG) to achieve the best outcomes for the Lachlan Catchment in terms of environmental water delivery. The LRWG plans the use and management of environmental water to enhance the health and effective functioning of the riverine, wetland and floodplain ecosystems within the catchment.

Wetlands on Farms

The Wetlands on Farms program run by I&I NSW with support from the Lachlan CMA, aims to encourage landholders in the Lachlan Catchment to become involved in the sustainable management of wetlands on their properties through the development of Wetland Management Plans.

Lake Brewster Land and Water Management Plan

The vision of the Lake Brewster Land and Water Management Plan is to manage the lake bed, foreshores and storage area to complement the aims of the Lake Brewster Water Efficiency Project. In doing so, the plan will also enhance the ecological features of Lake Brewster and the downstream environment of the Lachlan River.

High Conservation Value Aquatic Ecosystems/Wetlands

Protecting and enhancing three nationally, and one regionally, significant wetlands in the lower Lachlan.

Lake Brewster Water Efficiency Project

  • Project Start: December, 2006

The decline in water quality and wetland function, and lack of hydraulic efficiency in Lake Brewster, prompted stakeholders to propose infrastructure and management changes to address these issues. The result was the design and implementation of the Lake Brewster Water Efficiency Project (LBWEP).

Lachlan Environmental Water Management Plan

This project assists in the efficient delivery of environmental water through setting priorities based on important ecological, cultural and social values. The wetlands selected as priority for delivery of environmental water include those recognised as nationally and regionally important, providing good examples of wetland types associated with lowland rivers.

The Wetland Management program aims to assist participating land managers in the implementation of Wetland Management Plans developed under the Wetlands on Farms and other similar programs managed by the Lachlan CMA.

Fish on the Move

  • Project Start: November, 2008
  • Project Completion: April, 2010

This project proposes to conduct scoping works to investigate and prioritise structures that impede fish passage in the Wallaroi, Wallamundry, Bumbuggan and Goobang Creek systems that were not addressed in the Reducing the Impact of Weirs on Aquatic Habitat – NSW Detailed Weir Review, Lachlan CMA Region (2006).

Water Efficiency Tender

The Lachlan CMA Water Efficiency Tender (WETender) was a scheme operating during 2008/09 throughout the Lachlan Catchment to assist irrigators to improve their on-farm water use efficiency.
