The Lachlan CMA administers the Native Vegetation Act 2003 and Native Vegetation Regulation 2005, which was enacted on the 1st of December 2005. This Act repeals the Native Vegetation Conservation Act 1997.
The clearing of native vegetation in NSW may require approval under the Native Vegetation Act 2003 and is delivered through the Property Vegetation Planning (PVP) process. This process identifies areas to be cleared and the trade off areas associated while defining appropriate management actions. This is a negiotiated process between our Catchment Officer and the landholder. Also, you may wish to confirm your existing agricultural practices under a "Continuing Use PVP".
We can provide technical advice and assist you in developing a PVP on your property. They are prepared free of charge and are a voluntary but legally binding agreement between yourself and the State Government. If you wish to develop a Property Vegetation Plan, please contact the Lachlan CMA on (02) 6851 9500.
